Key Terminology
Call to Action | Nonprofits leaders, become more fluent in real estate terminology. It will help you succeed during your next commercial real estate project.
Operational Alignment | Denham Wolf doesn’t just provide real estate services; they help nonprofits get smart about their real estate. Denham Wolf’s clients, and the decision makers within those client teams, have varied real estate experience. Familiarity with industry terms improves the quality of participation by those decision makers and, by extension, supports project success.
See for Yourself | The Key Terminology Booklet is available online in PDF form. Select content extensions are also available online, such as a blog post about Square Feet, a blog post about Rent, and a blog post with a COVID Pandemic-inspired glossary expansion about Optionality.
Client, Timing, and Project Structure

Denham Wolf is a broker, project manager, and real estate advisor for nonprofits. Even outside of project work, Denham Wolf is committed to being an educational resource for leaders of nonprofit organizations. When I led marketing for Denham Wolf, this commitment was a connective thread throughout all business development and communications activity.
-
In 2016, I guided Denham Wolf’s leadership through the process of identifying and defining 60 key real estate terms. The result of this effort was a printed pocket glossary, which staff members could share with current and prospective clients. In subsequent years, I led preparations of content extensions for social media, email marketing campaigns, and the firm’s website.
-
I led marketing for Denham Wolf as an employee and managed this project in-house. I handled all copy, collaborated with internal marketing staff on booklet layout, and led the conception and production of related social, email, and web content.
Colony Square
Call to Action | Owners of mid-century developments in and around city centers, explore Atlanta’s Colony Square and imagine the ways that your property could be modernized.
Operational Alignment | Beyer Blinder Belle always takes a well-researched approach to architectural design. The firm is perhaps best known for work with historic cultural destinations, but BBB works . The project teams are intellectually rigorous on every project, whether they are restoring historic sites and or designing from the ground up.
See for Yourself | The stories behind Colony Square’s original design and the recent (multi-building, multi-discipline) design renewal are chronicled online at colonysquare.design.

Beyer Blinder Belle is versatile architecture firm that is perhaps best known for its thoughtful renovations and expansions of historic cultural destinations like the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
In addition to BBB, the Colony Square microsite was produced in close coordination with the project’s architect of record, Lord Aeck Sargent, and with BBB’s client North American Properties.
-
As Beyer Blinder Belle’s first Content Strategist, I helped tell the story of several unique architectural projects. BBB’s work at Colony Square involved multiple buildings, some existing and some new, plus landscape design and wayfinding. The project did not cleanly fit into existing templates for showcasing architectural work, but a microsite format provided the flexibility we needed. The microsite launched in 2021 and received additional touches in 2022.
-
I managed this project in-house, as Beyer Blinder Belle’s Content Strategist, in tandem with the firm’s graphic design team. I handled all microsite copy, added to existing project documentation with my own research, curated the available images and videos, and facilitated collaboration by several colleagues on narrative storyboarding and microsite layout. Many thanks go to graphic designer Myla Conanan and photographer Iran Watson, whose contributions make this microsite visually successful.
OHNY Weekend
Call to Action | Everyone is welcome to explore New York City during Open House New York Weekend! Get excited about the festival and start making your Weekend plan.
Operational Alignment | OHNY curates the Weekend festival with intention, and each festival site offers insights and inspiration. Whether it’s a new building, a private art collection, a community center, or a public works facility, a site in the Weekend lineup is a site worth exploring and celebrating.
See for Yourself | Approximately 40 site "Spotlights" and "Reveals” from the 2024 festival are on the @openhousenewyork Instagram grid. Notably, festival partners submitted their own descriptions for sites, which varied in tone, detail, and length; to achieve consistency across OHNY’s festival-related social media posts, some descriptions required significant editing and supplemental research. Here are two examples.

Open House New York is a nonprofit that promotes public access to New York City buildings and infrastructure. It is part of a worldwide network that engages citizens in dialogue about their cities’ futures. During the annual Weekend festival, OHNY partners with hundreds of organizations to provide site tours, talks, and exploration.
-
In the summer and fall of 2024, I helped OHNY with promotion of the Weekend festival. My work included copy for site "Spotlights" and "Reveals” published on social media between September 8 and October 14. The OHNY Weekend festival includes hundreds of sites, and some site partners are unable to finalize logistics far in advance. As a result, we prepared promotional content in very close coordination with an evolving catalog of festival partners and site logistics.
-
I served as a pro bono editorial advisor for OHNY. I provided content strategy, copyediting, and research services and mainly focused on promotion of the upcoming Weekend festival. Among other responsibilities, I handled copyediting for approximately 40 social media posts, conducted supporting research to augment festival partner submissions, and advised on the grouping and ordering of social media posts. I worked closely with Alison Pirie and Elis Shin, OHNY’s leads on communications the festival program, respectively, throughout the engagement.
